Position Summary

jaris is looking for a Human Resources Generalist to administer, support, and help build our various human resource programs. This role will include all aspects of employment human resource needs such as employee onboarding, training, performance management, and employee relations. It will also include incorporating employee cultural and recognition events for the company, as well as supporting office operational tasks. This position works to ensure legal compliance of state and federal regulations and applicable employment laws, and updates HR-related policies and/or procedures as required.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

jaris is a dynamic and evolving startup and the environment can be fluid. Job responsibilities may be altered to accommodate changing business conditions and objectives as well as to tap into the skills and experience of its employees. Accordingly, employees may be asked to perform duties that are outside the specific work that is listed here:

  • Acts as key coordinator for our third-party employee management platform and payroll provider 

  • Manages outside recruiters and employee onboarding

  • Consults with and advises leadership and management on employee relations issues

  • Advises on coaching and progressive discipline

  • Serves as key Performance Review program administrator (including coordinating performance evaluation timelines, process, messaging, training, tracking, and resource documents)

  • Works with managers and leadership team on recommending pay adjustments in line with our strategy and philosophy

  • Oversees separation process including separation package, notifications, company equipment retrieval, access deactivation, and exit interviews

  • Ensures that our processes and actions are compliant with laws and regulations, efficient and human-focused

  • Assists with maintaining, updating and communicating employee handbook policies in accordance with employment law

  • Tracks the completion of employee HR-related training

  • Assists in maintenance of company website content and portal

  • Plans and coordinates periodic team building and/or work culture events

  • Works on special projects for HR-related matters such as employee recognitions and All Hands meetings

 

Minimum Job Qualifications:

Education/Work Experience Requirements:

  • Two (2) years minimum years of professional-level Human Resources in similar role or related experience required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Behavioral Science, Human Resources Management or equivalent required.

 Skills:

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations as it relates to employment law

  • Proficient in Windows and with Mac Operating Systems

  • Ability to respond constructively to conflict and use good judgment

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize while managing tight deadlines

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to use business savvy and proactive thinking to ensure we’re anticipating needs

  • Ability to pay meticulous attention to detail

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

  • Ability to listen effectively seeking first to understand, then to be understood

Licensure/Certification:

Human Resources certifications such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, and/or SHRM-SCP are preferred but not mandatory.
